There’s no way you’re still interested in these. Unfortunately for you all, I am, so here’s another erasure. What’s interesting is that I haven’t read this book in years, and my only memories of Walden are happy and transcendental and awe inspiring with a hint of mind-numbing boredom.
As I continue to read, one page a day, focusing on every single word, I’m realizing that this is definitely not the case. Thoreau is flat out critical of the world he was living in, and he makes it seem like moving to the woods was a necessity.
