A Broken Promise

I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving break! Unlike the title of this story, I’m actually keeping a promise: I’m posting something other than the Walden erasures.

I know I didn’t post anything over the weekend. I was actually working on a short story that I might post here in the near future.

It needs a major revision so if it’s successful I might have to come up with something else for you all. I need to start submitting to more journals. I would love to have something of mine published by the end of 2018.

For now, though, I leave you all with a microfiction piece (50 words or less). I wrote it while doing some Cyber Monday shopping. May God have mercy on my wallet.

A Broken Promise

He watched the train he was supposed to catch pull away from the station. She said to be home in time for their daughter’s concert.

How long could he keep this secret going? There was no other way to afford the Disney trip she’d been asking for.

I might have an announcement in the next couple of days, so keep a look out for it. I won’t give any hints, but it’s something exciting!

As always, do not hesitate if you want to submit your own work. Please go to my submission guidelines for more info on that.
