I have some good news! And a request!
An old friend of mine started a literary journal on Instagram called Instant. They accept stories and essays told in the present tense — 700 words or less!
You all know I’m a huge fan of flash fiction, so this was an opportunity I had to jump on. My friend is currently going for his MFA in creative nonfiction and teaches as well. He knows good writing when he sees it.
So long story short: I submitted a prose poem and he happily accepted it. We worked together to make it perfect. All of you should go to his page and read my piece, On Mathematics. Just search instantprose.
Read the other stories, and submit your own work to them. It’s a fairly new journal, and a very unique one as well. How many Instagram journals do you know of (I’m genuinely asking)?
Here’s proof, so you actually go look. I’d post the entire piece here, but I don’t know if I have permission to do so, and I don’t feel like asking (sorry), and I want you all to check out this journal (not sorry).
I definitely plan on submitting more work in the future. I hope this gets big. Writers need to stick together and help each other out when needed. We already have it tough; let’s not make it any harder.
