Tomorrow

I was going to write this yesterday, but figured I could just do it tomorrow. This will be funnier in a minute — especially since today is National Napping Day, a day of procrastination.

Tomorrow

I’ll do it tomorrow,
I said
So I can sleep an extra
Hour before work.

I’ll try again
Tomorrow, I said
So I could give up
Again today.

I said tomorrow
Yesterday, so I could
Think about how
To word my next excuse.

I also said tomorrow
Because you know I
Won’t today; you know
I’ll just say “Tomorrow.”

Tomorrow
I’ll get out
And say I’ll try today,
But until then,

I’ll keep dreaming
About tomorrow
Knowing
Tomorrow will never come.

If you’re interested in submitting your own poetry, see my submission guidelines and feel free to send me an email. I’m not picky at all when it comes to themes and genres. If you have fiction, nonfiction, or even a play, that’s all fine. Send it my way!
