Curb Appeal

I’ve been watching way too much HGTV lately and I’ve picked up on a lot of the vocabulary that seems to be the same regardless of what show it is and where it’s taking place.

I think I still have a some Langston Hughes in my head because I managed to take one of those very common phrases and turn it into something familiar, but new. I hope you all like it!

Curb Appeal

She’s a beauty,
better than anyone else
on the block.

She’s fresh, only twenty years old,
she’s easy to talk to,
she’s not one to push around,
she’s got eyes on you at all times,
she’s waiting.

Men line the street,
parked with their wives
in the passenger seat.

The men say “Not bad,
definitely a steal.”
The realtor replies, “Yes,
baby’s got great curb appeal.”
