I wrote this poem in honor of fall and #nationalpoetryday. I wanted to post something a lot sooner, but I had a really rough creative day. I’m spending a lot of brain power writing for work and for my own separate projects, so there’s not much left in the tank at the end of the day.
I also feel like I haven’t written anything about fall yet, so I’m really hoping this makes up for the lack of seasonal blog posts so far. I hope you all enjoy!
Natural State
Are the leaves actually changing
if they’re going back to their true colors,
shedding the green that shields
who they really are?
The leaves changing and fall arriving
indicates that what all it is we’re after,
why we love fall so much, is seeing
living beings in their natural state.
We hope to shed our lives down
to what really matters to us and no one
else who thinks our masks define
our everyday lives and our beliefs.
