I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving yesterday! I took a little trip upstate today with my family. The mountains already had snow on them, which isn’t supposed to be anything to think twice about at this time, but in the age of global warming and climate change, even little things like that can be surprising.
While I’m up here, I expect to sit around reading, writing, and editing until Sunday. Absolute goals. I wish I could do this full-time. Maybe it’s my chance to start NaNoWriMo! 7 days, 50,000 words? Hold my beer. For now, here’s a little warmup.
Snowcaps
Snowcapped mountain
peaks just slightly over
the horizon as I drive
towards home away
from home even though
it’s not quite winter
yet, the sun’s out,
but not quite warm
enough to melt
the leftover snow
on both shoulders,
and I can’t wait
to put my car in park
and feel the cold air.
